Maltese dogs are very antique breed and Maltese have been recognized by a multiple of names all over the centuries. Initially Maltese dogs are called the "Canis Melitaeus dog" in Latin language it is also known in English as the "ancient dog of Malta," the "Roman Ladies' Dog, and “the” Maltese Lion Dog."
