In this disease the tests of the Maltese-dogs fail to move down in the scrotum. The scrotum is place the paired sac that holds the testes and epididymides outside the abdominal cavity. Its function is to allow the production and storage of spermatozoa to occur at a lower temperature than that of the abdomen. Further temperature control is achieved by contraction or relaxation of muscles in the scrotum. In these disorder tests of the Maltese-dogs kept within in abdomen or inguinal canal (relating to or affecting the region of the groin).  It sometimes one tests and in severe cases it attacked the both tests.

An operation is carried by the doctors that are called orchidopexy operation to move down the tests of the Maltese-dogs. It is necessary that all these steps should be taken in the teenage years. Because it is considering that high temperature in the abdomen of the Maltese-dogs interfere with the sperm production of the male Maltese-dogs. Tests normally move down to the scrotum in the age of 2 to 4 months and Maltese-dogs tests are commonly in the abdomen of the dogs always. When this disease attack then one or both tests not passed in to the groin (the external depression on the front of the body that marks the junction of the abdomen with either of the thighs).Maltese-dogs become unfertile after the suffering in this disease. Commonly male Maltese- dogs attacked by this disease as compare to the female Maltese-dogs.
