Glaucoma Maltese-Dogs-disease

glucoma-disease-maltese dogs-img
This is the condition in which loss of vision occurs because of an abnormally high pressure in the eyes of Maltese-dogs. In most cases there is no other ocular disease. This is known as primary glaucoma and there are two pathologically distinct types, acute and chronic simple. In acute glaucoma, there is an unexpected rise in pressure due to sudden closure of the angle between the cornea and iris where aqueous humour usually drains from the eye of the Maltese-dogs.
glucoma-disease-maltese dogs-picThis is accompanied by pain and marked blurring of vision associated with inflammation of the anterior segment. In the more common chronic simple glaucoma, the pressure rises slowly, commonly without producing pain, and the visual loss is insidious for the Maltese-dogs. The same type of visual loss of the Maltese-dogs may rarely occur in eyes with a normal pressure, this is called low-tension glaucoma. Primary glaucoma occurs increasingly with age and is an important cause of blindness. Secondary glaucoma may occur when other ocular disease damages the normal circulation of the aqueous humour((the watery fluid that fills the chamber of the eye instantly behind the cornea and in front of the lens. It is continually being formed chiefly by capillaries of the ciliary processes. And it drains away into Schlemm's canal, at the junction of the cornea and sclera)) And causes the intraocular pressure to Rise .

In all types of glaucoma the eventual problem is to reduce the intraocular (of or relating to the area within the eyeball. An intraocular lens implant is a plastic lens placed inside the eye after cataract extraction to replace the natural lens) pressure. Drops are inserted into the eye of the Maltese-dogs at regular intervals to improve the outflow of aqueous humour from the eye and or to reduce the production of aqueous humour. Drugs used for this purpose include beta blockers (for example  timolol, levobunolol, carteolol), carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (for example  brinzolamide, dorzolamide), alpha-receptor stimulants ( apraclonidine, brimonidine), and latanoprost. If this treatment is ineffective, surgery may be performed to make a new channel through which the aqueous humour may drain from the eye of the Maltes- dogs in sufficient quantities to allow the pressure to return to normal. Such operations are known as drainage or filtering operations.

In this disease the tests of the Maltese-dogs fail to move down in the scrotum. The scrotum is place the paired sac that holds the testes and epididymides outside the abdominal cavity. Its function is to allow the production and storage of spermatozoa to occur at a lower temperature than that of the abdomen. Further temperature control is achieved by contraction or relaxation of muscles in the scrotum. In these disorder tests of the Maltese-dogs kept within in abdomen or inguinal canal (relating to or affecting the region of the groin).  It sometimes one tests and in severe cases it attacked the both tests.

An operation is carried by the doctors that are called orchidopexy operation to move down the tests of the Maltese-dogs. It is necessary that all these steps should be taken in the teenage years. Because it is considering that high temperature in the abdomen of the Maltese-dogs interfere with the sperm production of the male Maltese-dogs. Tests normally move down to the scrotum in the age of 2 to 4 months and Maltese-dogs tests are commonly in the abdomen of the dogs always. When this disease attack then one or both tests not passed in to the groin (the external depression on the front of the body that marks the junction of the abdomen with either of the thighs).Maltese-dogs become unfertile after the suffering in this disease. This may be due to perforations of Maltese-Dog’s eardrum, fluid or infection in the middle ear, or disorders of the small bones in the middle ear. Sensorineural deafness may be due to a lesion of the cochlea in the inner ear, the auditory nerve, or the auditory centers in the brain. It may be present from birth of Maltes- dogs. In adults it may be brought on by injury, disease or prolonged exposure to loud noise; progressive sensorineural deafness is common with advancing age. This type of Maltese-dog’s deafness can be diagnosed by various hearing tests and the treatment depends on the cause. The inner ear of the dogs degenerates early in development, so the dog cannot pick up sound with these structures. Some Maltese-dogs may begin to ignore certain calls if no reward is given repeatedly for response to these calls.
